Macapá is located on the Northern mouth of the Amazon River. Macapá is the capital of Amapá, and has about 450,000 people. Amapá has one of the best public education systems in the country. It is a very progressive city, which has numerous parks, a zoo, a big public library, and good roads, and is accessible internationally via a short flight or boat trip from Belém. Of all the places in Brazil that Luciene and I have lived, so far we like Macapá the best.
We have two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Raquel, and one son, Josiah. I (Eduardo) worked full time as a Internet Consultant for Comsys, and with Support Technologies as web developer before following the call of God to the mission field. We were also active in our home church, and took part in the children's ministry, in the AIDS ministry, and in leading small groups at Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Columbus, Ohio.
What is the vision?
Our vision is to plant healthy, reproducing churches in Brazil. We believe that church planting is the most effective means of evangelism and discipleship. The main objective of our mission is to develop church planting movements that will enable the kingdom of God to be proclaimed throughout the nation, and throughout the world.
We believe that the heart of missions is the expanding of the kingdom of God through the words and work of Jesus. God's intention is that his people be a blessing to others. (Genesis 12:3) We believe that Jesus has given us a mandate to bring the good news of the kingdom to every nation and people group. (Matthew 4:23, Luke 10:8, Matthew 28:19-20)
We also have a vision to start a "Community Center" in conjunction with church planting. This Community Center could teach important life skills to those in the community. We envision literary classes to teach people to read, cooking and parenting skills, gardening, english classes, computer skills, illustration, Christian comics, writing and journalism, photography, teach printing, and even printing their own community newsletter and tracts as a venue for their own illustration, writing and photography.
My vision is to teach people of the Good News of Jesus Christ, but to do so also with very practical skills, skills that will help them in their everyday lives as parents, as providers for their families, and as members in their communities. I would like to plant and nurture a vibrant, healthy, worshipping church, one that would change the face of the city of Macapá. Luciene is also working to establish the children's ministry in the new church plant, training others to work with the children, and working to secure materials and adequate resources for this most important ministry.

Pray that we would live in a manner worthy of the calling we have received, that there would be no darkness in us, that we would be consumed in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Pray that God would refine us, that we could be useful vessels for His purposes. And finally just that we would become worshippers of God, and that others would become worshippers through us, that the Name of God would be glorified, and the good news would go forth in power.
You can encourage, through notes, e-mails, or calls. And you can give. Give back to God some of the blessings he has given you. You can give items that would be helpful for the classes, like computers, cameras, darkroom equipment, printing presses, books in portuguese, or even help with shipping costs to get these items to Brazil.
If you would like more information about how you can get involved, feel free to contact me.
Thank you, Buck
