Death, Light

Death.
White light,
Bright light.
Revealing the darkness in me,
Light.

On my face before the throne,
Crying in shame as my life is reviewed,
Crying,
Crying alone.

Crying for eternity lost,
Crying in terror,
Nowhere to hide,
Unable even to look,
Even to look upon the light.

I knew of Christ but rejected the name
Of the only One who could save me.

Oh that I could change my mind,
Go back in time,
Embrace the Shepherd
Before I died.

"Mercy, mercy!" I cried.
"God, have mercy on me."

God must have heard,
Because I did awaken,
Crying and sobbing,
Trembling, shaking.

I fell to my knees,
Eternally grateful,
I could now make right
What I had once forsaken.

I died that night,
I died on the cross.
I died in Christ,
And with Him I am risen.

My sin,
The darkness,
By Christ
Now forgiven.

I have vowed
To pour out my life,
As a drink offering
Upon the sands of time
To persuade others -

Forsake the darkness.
Come to the light,
Before it's too late,
Before you see.

Death.
White light,
Bright light.

Revealing the darkness in you,
Light.
