We moved in next door to a family from Puerto Rico, and have developed a friendship with them. Our household is Brazilian, and our two households are the only Latin households in a predominately white neighborhood. There are many things that Latin Americans do that others don't any more, like hang out on the front porch. Most Americans hide in the back yard with privacy fences. I have seen a lot of prejudice against them. Granted they get loud, and I mean loud! But they bring a flavor to the street that would not be there without them. It saddens me that the monster of prejudice is still alive and well in White America.
